Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, don’t let one day define your love for someone. Love 365 days a year. Also, don’t be discouraged if you don’t have someone. Stay positive. Keep your chin up. Know that God has a bountiful of beautiful blessings in store for you. I went out to dinner, with my mom (who was my Valentine).
Let me tell you the story behind the dress I am wearing. About a month ago, I went online to look at new dresses that had come out for Spring & Summer. I perused a couple of sites and came across this beautiful dress on Neiman Marcus’ website. It’s a simple, sheath-style dress with a beautiful floral embellishment. Along with its striking red color, it was love at first sight for me. The dress encompasses everything I love. It’s minimal. No fuss. Easy to wear. Both the color and flower make a statement. I said to myself, how perfect is this dress to wear for Valentine’s Day!?! It was calling my name.
Keeping my fingers-crossed, I prayed this dress came in my size (there’s nothing petite about me guys … I’m 6 feet tall). I also hoped the price wasn’t too exorbitant. I mean, I am on Neiman Marcus’ website and everything is designer and of course, designer priced. HaHaHa Well luck-so-be-it, there was ONE dress in this style left in my size! The price hit me right between the eyes, but it could’ve been much worse. I had to decide quickly. Decisions … Decisions! HaHaHa
I thought to myself, Kim you LOVE this dress. It’s ok to splurge sometimes. You can wear this dress to future events. It’s versatile! The flower-embellished brooch is removable, so you can wear it as a sheath. You can wear a blazer with this dress. Plus, I haven’t purchased any designer clothes in years. For the past several years, I have purposefully purchased secondhand clothes on eBay & ThredUp. I ordered the dress, it arrived and fits perfectly. This dress makes me smile!
In my excitement, I never paid attention to who designed the dress. I just loved the dress. The designer’s name is Chiara Boni (pronounced kee-AR-a BO-nee // Chiara Boni La Petite Robe Flower Embellished Sleeveless Dress). I follow fashion, so I’ve heard of her. She is an Italian fashion designer, who is based in Milan. Her designs have been worn by many a celebrity (Chiara Ferragni, Patricia Conde, Mariah Carey). Well, this dress made me feel extra beautiful and like a dream Valentine’s evening. I received so many compliments. The restaurant, seated me in the front 😉 I’m so glad I purchased it. I would’ve had buyers remorse if I didn’t. Chiara Boni has done her job.
