The Roosevelt Hotel: Christmas Decorations

Happy Holidays Everybody! My mom and I attended a classical Christmas music concert, performed by The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, at The Orpheum Theater (12/16/21) the other night. The music was so beautiful and relaxing. It’s just what you need this time of year. Before we attended the concert, we walked across the street to see the amazing Christmas decorations (#WaldorfWonderland) at The Roosevelt Hotel (A Waldorf Astoria Hotel) here in New Orleans.

The Roosevelt New Orleans is a 125+ year luxury hotel (you can read about its rich history here.), that displays the most exquisite Christmas decorations in the lobby of their hotel each year. The lobby’s block long decor was expanded this year to include 20,000 additional lights, double the bows & garland, new decor and classic favorites. It boasts 44 Christmas trees, 135,572 lights, 3,328 feet of winter branches, 2,200 glass ornaments and 698 hand tied bows (source). People from all over flock to see their display every December.

The decorations at The Roosevelt Hotel are exquisite and stunning. Majestic flags, lighted garland and oversized wreaths greet you upon arrival. A red carpet awaits your footsteps, along with a pair of toy soldiers and perfectly potted poinsettias, at the hotel’s front entrance. Once inside your eyes will be entranced with the beautiful mosaic floors and magnificent chandeliers that grace the ceilings. Lights … lights … beautiful white lights and trees grace both sides of your walking path from entrance to the display’s end.

It was so nice, seeing people enjoying the displays. Everyone was jovial, smiling and happy. Couples, families and even employees from the hotel were in good spirits. A very nice gentleman, who was staying with his family at the hotel, offered to take a picture of my mom and I. His gesture was so kind. We need more kindness in this world. My mom and I had a wonderful time at The Roosevelt. I plan on staying there, to take in all of there amenities soon.

If you visit The Roosevelt in the month of December, consider making reservations for their Teddy Bear Tea and Christmas Brunch. Both sell out quickly. There are a number of Nutcracker and Christmas performances at The Orpheum Theater (directly across the street). It would make someone’s dream, wish and desire come true.
