Birthday Dinner At BR Prime

My mom and I went on a near-cation to Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi for her birthday weekend. She wanted to attend a concert, play some games and have dinner at BR Prime Steakhouse located inside the hotel. Birthdays are very special occasions, so I wanted her to enjoy herself and fill the weekend doing everything she loves. I know I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my milestone birthday, earlier this year (1, 2, 3, 4) at The Windsor Court Hotel.

We packed lightly, since our stay was just for the weekend. One of the dresses I packed, was this Moulinette Soeurs Guinevere Maxi Dress from Anthropologie. I love this dress because of its ease, comfort, earthy color and fluid style. I purchased it second-hand off of eBay for only $50. It was the perfect choice to wear to a lovely birthday celebration.

BR Prime is an American Steakhouse located on the first floor of Beau Rivage towards the rear of the casino. The restaurant is very beautiful. Its decor consists of rich earthy tones, glitzy chandeliers, an open-kitchen design and floor-to-ceiling glass wine display. I would describe the restaurant as modern contemporary. I’ve never been to New York, but I equate this restaurant to the fine dining I’ve seen through pictures there. It’s very ritzy, chic and glamorous!

My mom and I started our evening with a bottle of Riesling and our appetizer was Oysters Rockefeller. Riesling wine comes from a white grape variety. It’s a sweet wine and except for rarities, not very expensive. Oysters Rockefeller are oysters on the half-shell, that have been topped with butter, spinach, bread crumbs, cheese and then broiled. Our dinner consisted of filet mignon, mushrooms, asparagus, baked potato and shrimp. The food was good, but both my mom and I agree the steaks and wine at Chophouse New Orleans are better. I suggest BR Prime’s ribeye steak from past experience.

What I do wish to commend is the exemplary service shown to us while dining. It was absolutely impeccable. Our waiter (Chris) and the several gentlemen that helped him were superb. From pouring wine (letting you taste it before pouring a full glass) to swirling coffee in your cup, they have fine dining etiquette down pat. How cool is this guy’s pi hand tattoo? Ooh la la! I think it’s so sexy! Its placement is so unique. Thumbs up to his coolness (or should I say hotness)!

The icing on the cake literally happened when Chris surprised my mom with a huge delicious slice of chocolate ganache mousse cake, complete with an assortment of berries and candle atop. It was so pretty and she was so surprised. I’m glad I captured this beautiful moment, with my cell phone. Its snapshots of life’s moments like this, that I treasure. She really enjoyed her birthday. I love my mom. Thank You BR Prime for making this occasion so special. We enjoyed ourselves.
